Birth Story-Part 3

While the new parents were adoring their new arrival I was slowly losing more and more blood.  I actually don't remember much at this point and probably because of how much I was losing.  I do remember that my doctor was stitching me up and kept saying how much I was losing.  The nurses were kneading my belly like dough and I remember getting two shots in my leg and I guess they had kept me on pitocin to help with the clotting.  It was getting bad enough where my doctor said they'd have to do a D&C on me or they'd insert some kind of balloon into my uterus.  I ended up having three different interventions and it finally started getting better and was able to stop hemorrhaging.  I found out later that I lost about 400 cc of blood.  The entire time I kept thinking I don't want a blood transfusion, I don't want one even though it was never mentioned.

I honestly don't remember much from the time he was delivered to being moved into the recovery room, I literally felt like I was out of body.  I felt like I was slowly dying, so I will tell you what little I do remember.

I remember one of my other surro friends coming in after he was delivered.  I thought it was after I had been cleaned up and covered but was told she came in while still getting stitched up.  I remember being extremely cold and shaking uncontrollably.  I had piles and piles of warm blankets on top of me plus around my neck and head and still feeling like I was freezing.  The shaking was so bad and wouldn't stop either.  I'm grateful I had my friend taking pictures because she has pictures of the parents holding the baby by me so I could see him and stroke his soft face.  I remember none of this though.  My mom told me that everyone was so loud and chaotic, I again remember none of this.  I just remember shaking and being freezing cold.  I remember my ex husband bringing our daughter in and she was able to see the baby and cuddle with him.  I remember my surro friend saying to pull it together since my daughter would be arriving shortly.  I looked ridiculous with all the blankets and on top of that had the oxygen nose piece in to help since I wasn't getting enough oxygen on my own.  I remember being extremely numb still and when they were ready to wheel me to the recovery room I had to roll from bed to bed.  I feel like I lost that entire night because I was so out of it and feeling so loopy.

They said I had to hold the baby while they wheeled me over to recovery, for some reason the parents couldn't just walk him over.  Then once in the room we were taking pictures and people were slowly saying goodbye and leaving.  It had been an extremely eventful and long day!

That first night was a nightmare to say the least!  One of the shots they gave me to stop the bleeding has a nasty side effect of diarrhea and boy did it hit me hard.  I was still extremely numb and was not able to take care of myself and needed assistant to use the restroom and to clean myself.  It was a humbling and humiliating night to say the least.  The nurse was so rude and acted as if this was an adoption and treated me so poorly.  If I were to base my recommendation of this hospital from that experience alone I would NOT recommend anyway to go to that hospital at all.  When I would page for the nurse it would be forever before they would arrive and that is not acceptable in my eyes when I can't physically get out of the bed because I was still numb.

I was retaining urine and couldn't empty my bladder completely that first night and was having side effects from the one shot.  I kept paging to have them call my doctor to get medicine and to insert a catheter.  They refused and wouldn't and said they needed to wait on the on call doctor.  I was so miserable and just devastated.  Luckily my mom had some medicine in her purse that helped tons and I was finally able to fall asleep about 1:30 pm.  At one point I was in tears because of the entire situation and the nurses still sucked!

Around 7 am my OB came in to check on me.  I just love her!  I told her how the night went and she was so sweet and felt awful how things went.  Found out that it was stated in my chart about a few of my complaints and issues in my chart the entire time.  It just made me more mad that they weren't listening or checking my chart at least to see what was okay and what wasn't.

Later the nurse came in to update the day shift what was going on and who was who type of thing.  She told me the on call doctor didn't call back until about 4:30 am.  Livid is an understatement!  He will be getting an ear full when I go in for my 6 week check up most definitely.  I kept asking who the night nurse was going to be because I wanted to make sure I wasn't going to be dealing with the same nurse again.

The rest of my stay there was very pleasant and I was doing pretty good.  The intended parents would come over or I would go to their room to visit.  I just couldn't get enough of that little guy and neither could my daughter.

We were all discharged on Wednesday and it was a little bittersweet knowing that they would be leaving for home far away.  Not knowing when or if I would ever see them in person again just kind of sucked!  I know I did something absolutely amazing though and know that this little boy was meant to come to this family through me.  It was an amazing ending!

Birth Story-Part 2

I started feeling tons of pressure and thought it might be time to push but in the back of my mind kept reminding myself that is how I felt with my daughter and I wasn't even close to fully dilated.  I paged the nurse and when she checked me she said that I had a lip left and then it would be time.  She was going to page the doctor and let her know.

Every time I was checked I would have everyone leave the room so I felt like I had some dignity before I was completely exposed to the whole room.

The nurse was about to get the doctor when she just happened to walk in to check on me, she truly is the best doctor I've ever had.  The doctor came in and checked me and said I was ready.  At that point I had a mini panic about this being the end.  I had been wanting to be done with the pregnancy and have my body back but in that split second I freaked out.  I think I even said out loud that I wasn't ready yet, that it wasn't time.  I literally wanted to keep him safe a little longer.  It was a bit chaotic at this point and everyone seemed to be moving in super speed but in slow motion at the same time.  It is bizarre to think about.  Almost like it was out of body experience and I was watching from the outside in.

It was almost 5:30 pm and I had my mom on my left side and Mr. California was standing behind my mom waiting.  My friend, Jen was there taking pictures of the birth, I highly recommend having someone do that for you!  Mrs. California was suiting up to help deliver her son!  My best friend, Jenny was on my right side.  For a second Mrs. C and Jenny were almost not allowed to be in the room.  The nurses were being brats about how many people could be in the room.  Yeah I don't think so.

It came time to push and I honestly was so nervous!  With my daughter I pushed for almost 2 hours and she needed assistance to make her entrance.  I was worried that I'd be pushing forever with no progress and need a c-section.  A c-section was my biggest worry since I could tell how big this baby was going to be.  I started pushing and my mom was cheering me on and counting and as well as my friend.  I pushed with all my might and honestly didn't know if I was even pushing since I could NOT feel a darn thing.  Another worry was that I would feel the stitches I knew I would be needing after baby was born and had pushed the epidural booster in between contractions at one point.  I pushed for a good 15 minutes though and he was Earth side and placed him on my belly while his mom cut his cord.  It was absolutely amazing and the coolest thing to watch her deliver her baby and the excitement on her face.

I am pretty sure I had a tear streaming down my face the entire time I was pushing him out.  I could feel the presence of my biggest cheerleaders that had passed.  It was one of the most spiritual experiences I have been apart of.

While he was on my belly I was able to kind of wipe his face off and then they took him to the bed where his mom was able to adore him more.  At this point the dad was repetitively thanking me and we were both just sobbing!  It was truly an amazing thing to be part of!

Birth story-Part 1

There was a ton that led up to the big arrival of this little guy's arrival and it sure wasn't without a whirlwind of chaos.  I honestly would do it all over again just to see the happy faces of his parents and the look of his siblings when they met him.

I had originally asked my doctor if we could induce on April 11th since this little pea bio brother weighed almost 9 lbs at 37 1/2 weeks.  I was nervous I'd be pushing a 10 lb kid out of my body or wouldn't be able to and would need a c-section.  Due to the hospitals rules they wouldn't let my OB induce me before 39 weeks.  I was a little devastated since I was so miserable at this point in the pregnancy anyways.  My doctor was also going to be on vacation for an entire week so I was freaking out that she would be gone when I went into labor too.  I trust the other doctors in that office but I had built a relationship and trusted my OB so much!  We went ahead and set up an induction date just in case I hadn't delivered by that point for April 21st!  The closer we got the more excited and anxious I got.

I called the hospital bright and early at 6:15 am to see what time they wanted me to arrive to get started.  After the hospital said when to arrive I called Mr. & Mrs. California to let them know when to arrive at the hospital.  They still had a few hours to drive since they drove the night before and stopped to rest.  Originally I was going to drive my daughter to day care and then head to the hospital but due to taking a bit longer to get ready plans got changed.  My friend and mom took my daughter to day care and then met myself and another friend at the hospital.  When  I arrived at the hospital shortly after 7:40 am one of the nurses was actually on the phone with my OB and she was making sure I was there.  (I honestly love my OB and trust her with my life.)  I was nervous that they would say there weren't any beds since I knew how busy they had been the weeks prior, but thankfully I was being admitted.  I won't lie the entire time I was getting admitted it seemed like a dream and that it wasn't really going to happen that day.  It was so surreal!

I got all changed and they took my stats before getting me all started and then the fun really started.  It was about 8:40 am by the time we were really ready to go.  About the time I had gotten changed my mom and best friend showed up to the hospital.  The nurse told me that they would have the doctor come break my waters and that I could get the epidural basically whenever I wanted it.  She did say that the anesthesiologist would be in a c-section for the next hour so it would be after that.  I thought I would tough it out for a bit while on pitocin anyways.  I was a little nervous about getting my waters broken without an epidural mostly since I was completely numb with my daughter so I didn't know what to expect.  It actually wasn't bad at all.  It felt like a normal pelvic exam and then the gushing started.  I knew there would be tons of fluid coming but I didn't expect to soak the entire bed and then some.  I was on pitocin and so every single contraction it seemed to gush even more fluid out as well.  It seriously was grossing me out having this warm fluid coming out of me and it was supposed to be "normal and okay."  I decided to sit on the toilet to labor for a little while to have gravity help and to stop gushing all over myself.  I basically made a liquid trail to the toilet since it was not stopping and just continually coming out.  I basically housed a swimming pool in there!!  While I sat on the toilet the nurses changed the entire bedding and with every contraction the fluid continued to come out but I think that helped it to get all out.  I had a surro sister there who is a photographer to take pictures throughout the ending of this journey and she was there right before they broke my waters.  I can't wait to see all of those pictures!!

Sitting on the toilet was making the contractions start to get a bit more intense, I'd have to focus more during them.  I decided it was time for the epidural but when I called for one they said I needed to wait because he was in another surgery.  When he finally came in I was more then ready for his happy face to arrive!  I could still handle the surges but I couldn't talk through them and I was feeling quite a bit of pressure.  The parents arrived shortly after I had gotten the epidural so I was able to visit and entertain without wanting to die or cuss at anyone.

The epidural was heaven sent for sure and I honestly don't know what I was thinking about wanting to have a natural birth.  There was a huge difference with this epidural though, I could still feel down my legs and wiggle my toes.  Eventually I started having quite a bit of pain and pressure in my behind and I was not feeling so great!  I thought for sure this had to be it and I was fully dilated.  I paged the nurse to let her know that I was having lots of pressure.  When she checked me I was only a 5 cm dilated.  At this rate I was dilating at 1 cm per hour so far.  We ended up having the anesthesiologist come back in and he placed a new epidural since I was still feeling so much and the first one was not in completely.  Once that was placed I really was numb and couldn't even feel my legs, they felt as if someone was sitting on them and I couldn't move.

After the new epidural was placed it was pretty uneventful to say the least.  I kind of felt bad for everyone having to wait on little man to make his grand entrance.  My body was at least doing its job and he was descending in a timely manner.  I was dilating about 1 cm every hour and soon he would be here!

Saying our see ya laters for the day.  Ms. M was going to day care while I had this baby.

The final belly picture at 39 weeks and 3 days along!  Forgot to get a picture in my normal clothes.  Was taken about 8:38am
 Ready to go!!
 With the best doctor ever!
This was taken about 12:33pm.  I was dilated to a 5 at this point.  Was already on pitocin and had my waters broken before epidural was admitted.  This was shortly after the second epidural was placed and I was completely numb and couldn't even move my legs.

35 weeks along

35 weeks along
34 weeks and 3 days along
Starting to get some swelling in the feet.  Compression socks seem to help some.
34 weeks along
33 weeks along

The start of the awesome swelling in my legs.
33 weeks and 1 day along
32 weeks along
31 weeks and 2 days along

I can't believe we are in the final countdown now.  I have 5 more weeks before my official due date but honestly he could come in 2-3 weeks easily.  That is so crazy to me and seems like it is going to be here before I know it.  I am honestly not even ready, bag still isn't packed yet for the hospital

I have my last 2 week appointment on the 28th and then I go every single week til he is born!  I can say now that I will be having this little boy next month and that I won't be pregnant sometime next month.  Mind blown!

Mrs. California has sent me pictures just recently of the cute decorations in his room and sent a picture of the baby car seat that came in the mail!!  I love getting those updates and seeing the excitement of them preparing.  With them not living close it is all that I get and I love it.  I can tell how excited they are for his arrival!

This past month has been a whirlwind of chaos to say the least.  I just recently started having swelling in my feet and mostly in just one foot.  We had been monitoring for pre-eclampsia (toxemia) since I had a tiny bit of protein in my urine at my last appointment.  I looked up signs for pre-e and one of them was one foot swelling up bigger then the other.  I called the office and talked to the nurse and they said since my blood pressure looked awesome that they weren't concerned about that.  Although they did want me to go in for a blood clot; it is another indicator with the shrek swelling in my one foot.  I literally started freaking out.  I had an Uncle pass away from a blood clot that went from his foot to his lungs causing a pulmonary embolism.  Even though I have been checked for that marker and it came back negative and everything looked good when I was younger, I immediately was panicking.  I was able to take the afternoon off from work and go straight to the hospital to get an ultrasound done on my leg.  In the end there was NOT a blood clot, thank goodness!  This baby's head is sitting in a way that he is cutting off some circulation in my one leg.  I have been wearing compression socks at night and that seems to be helping some of the issue but by the end of the day my feet and more so on the one side are nice and swollen again.

Another bump in the road that happened this past month was a little labor & delivery visit.  I had been having consistent contractions/back pain/braxton hicks to the point that I was getting a bit nervous.  I went in to get monitored and they were only able to see maybe 2 actual contractions on the monitor in the couple hours that we were there, which was good.  They said that I had a possible kidney stone that was irritating my uterus and causing the pain and contractions.  I seriously was wishing for contractions at that point, at least they can give me something to stop them and order bed rest.  Kidney stones are painful and awful!  I had an appointment set up for the next day to double check and see if there was a kidney stone floating around.  I didn't realize how painful my kidney's would hurt from her pushing on them and checking for an ultrasound but they sure did and it definitely had a tiny little "baby" stone in there.  It is funny because when I initially went to the L&D I had a thought that it was going to be a kidney stone for some reason and sure enough it was.  They gave me a strainer to catch my little "baby" but I opted out of it since they weren't going to be analyzing it at all.  I am pretty sure that I have passed it since I haven't had any issues for a week or so with that.  It was a tiny one and they said that I probably wouldn't even feel it when it did pass anyways.

Some really freaking good news is that he is finally HEAD DOWN!!!  He has been consistently breech from 12 weeks and on and just this last appointment he has finally turned.  We did an ultrasound check to make sure and he was!  That was the best news all month since we were getting concerned about what to do.  Now that doesn't need to be a worry anymore.

This pregnancy has been like night and day compared to my pregnancy with my daughter and I definitely wasn't expecting that at all.  There have been a lot of bumps in the road and a lot of scares along the way but we area finally in the last stretch!  Just 2 more weeks and I will be considered full term!!  I can't wait for some maternity leave and a much needed rest/break.

Weight Gain: 45 lbs.  I'm sure by the time I deliver I will have gained as much as I did with my daughter.  Let's just hope it comes off as easily as it did with her.

Cravings:  I am pretty sure I have Pica, yes I think it is absolutely bizarre and soo weird.  I crave the smell of downy softner and tide laundry detergent and pine sol, the original and lemon scents!  I could have that smell around me ALL. THE. TIME.  Simply amazing!  There really aren't any other things that I must have but those smells are definitely must have.  It helps that I'm smack dab in the middle of nesting, which means LOTS of cleaning!

Symptoms: Braxton hicks, some contractions, leaky boobs every so often, pressure down there, baby not wiggling as much since room is limited in there, feet in my ribs, tossing and turning at night, waking up in the middle of the night for numerous potty breaks, feeling huge, uncomfortable, waddling, can't breath since he is so high up still, and finally my boobs are starting to get bigger!

Their baby's the size of a coconut!
He's about 17.2 to 18.7 inches. From here on out, he won't get much longer, but he's plumping up. He's now about 4.2 to 5.8 pounds, and he'll put on a pound or more of baby fat before birth.

Their baby at 35 weeks!
  • Now, his hearing is fully developed, and he responds best to high-pitched noises.
  • If it's a boy, his testes have probably fully descended.

30 weeks along

30 weeks and 1 day along

My biggest helper and fan
29 weeks along
He favors one side over the other for sure
My daughter likes to stick her tummy out and says she has a belly in her belly too
28 weeks along and I forgot to take one for week 27

I have been having the nesting bug lately which is good for my house.  The only bad part about that is I am usually at work or it is bed time and I feel this need to scrub everything down.  I was up scrubbing the bathroom last night.  Usually at this point in the pregnancy you are preparing the nursery and washing baby clothes and although I'm grateful to not be doing that I have this desire to scrub everything.  I am not the type of person to want to scrub baseboards but that is on the list of things to do and I'm actually excited!

I've noticed that he starts moving around tons when we have music playing which is really neat!  It is cool to see what noises get him moving around like crazy and what don't.  Hope his parents are ready for a music lover if he keeps it up.

He is still breech and I honestly was feeling stressed about it and a little bit of pressure put on me over it all.  I am just not going to stress the uncontrollable anymore.  My OB is on board for trying a breech vaginal delivery.  I am slowly coming to terms with a c-section but it honestly scares the hell out of me.  It is not what I wanted for my experience going into this at all, this is my journey too ya know.  Overall I just want this baby healthy and if it means I get an extra scar then so be it; but that is the LAST option.

My daughter and I went a couple weeks ago to get pedicures and it was amazing!!  I think the last trimester it is mandatory since there is no chance in me doing a decent job by myself.  Plus it is a bonus of having extra girl time with my daughter.

I have hit a wall at work with this exhaustion too.  He wakes me on the clock at 1 am and 3 am and I toss and turn to fall back to sleep.  I am good in the morning at work but by 2 pm literally everyday I could use a nap badly.  I'm really hoping to be able to work full time until delivery but if this keeps up I don't know how that is going to work.

My BP (blood pressure) has leveled out too!  It was at a normal level when I went into my OB appointment instead of the unusually low levels it had been at.  Thank goodness!  I would take low bp over high bp any day though!  I think there are less issues with low bp.

I also had my VERY LAST monthly OB appt.  Now I go in every two weeks and then once a week until delivery.  This is when it gets real and the countdown begins!  Holy smokes!!

Also, I will be in the SINGLE digits this coming week!!  Mind is blown that we are there already.  I had a bit of mixed emotions over how quickly this journey is coming to an end last week but am doing okay now.  This is something I've dreamed of doing and helping someone in this way for a very long time and it took, what seemed like forever to get to this point.  Now it is coming to a close and this Spirit is going to come Earth side and be with its family.  On one hand I can't wait to be done and have delivered.  To have my body back, to sleep all night, to hold my daughter and her not make fun of how huge my belly is and it being in her face.  On the flip side I have enjoyed every bad and miserable thing that comes with pregnancy symptoms because I know I am going to miss this journey.  I have learned so much from it and grown so much from it.  It is sad that it will soon be over but I am so excited for the family to have this baby in their arms.  They have waited such a long time to have him be apart of the family.  It is just a lot of mixed emotions with the end coming!

Weight Gain: 33 lbs, I always seem to pack on the pounds towards the end and I am definitely feeling it.  I am within healthy weight gain though so I won't stress about it.

Cravings: I have been having weird cravings lately, as in I want to have the constant smells of certain things.  They use a certain cleaner at work and I could sniff that smell all day and every single day.  The smell of laundry anything (soap and softener) I could smell all day.  Food cravings are just the usual I guess.  I have been loving bananas lately which help the charlie horses I've been having.  Bowls of cereal sound great anytime too!  Coconut water or anything with coconut flavor!  YUM!

Symptoms: Definitely waddling at this point in time, braxton hicks, pelvic pressure, constantly having to pee like an insane amount and not feeling like it is all out, exhaustion and wishing I could take a nap every single day, some ligament pain, him constantly moving around which I don't mind at all, some swelling in my feet, heart burn if I don't take the prilosec every single day (sometimes the prilosec doesn't even work too), Major back pain and sciatic nerve pain going down my leg, and charlie horses.  I think some extra stretch marks are slowly starting to show there ugly face too.

What I miss:

Their baby's the size of a cucumber!
Their 15.2- to 16.7-inch, 3- to 3.8-pound baby continues to grow!!

Their baby at 30 weeks!
  • His skin is getting smoother.
  • But his brain is getting wrinklier -- to make way for all that essential brain tissue.
  • He's now strong enough to grasp a finger!

Surro sisters-we are (starting with me and moving to the right) 22, 21, 20 weeks along

My Christmas present from one of my best friends!  Love it!!
24 weeks
Still breech and lays on the right side and won't budge at all...
25 weeks
26 weeks
Baby P on 1/17/2014

This has been quite the past month with some ups and some downs.  I can't imagine not going through this experience but it is just SO different from my last pregnancy with my own child that it throws me for a loop.

I went to my surro brunch and had so much fun chatting with the girls from my Utah Surro Group, they are honestly some of my best friends!  I really enjoy seeing them and hearing how everything is going with them and with their journeys!

I had mentioned a while ago, probably before we even transferred that I wanted a shirt that something like "Stay Calm, It's Not Mine."  Well my friend is awesome and found a company that made one for me!  I was so excited about this and couldn't wait to wear it out.

I had my monthly OB appointment and baby boy is still very much in the breech position but at least doesn't have his bum in my pelvis.  We still have about 10 weeks before we will start trying to move him ourselves though.  For now, I will start doing some downward dog and possibly prenatal yoga to see if that helps him flip.  He has plenty of fluid in there to turn and move around but he is nice and cozy sitting on my bladder and laying in my rib cage.  I also got to drink the glucose drink today but won't find out the results to that for a few days.  Here is to hoping that turns out great and I won't need the 3 hour glucose test too.

The family has picked a name out for baby boy and I think it is super cute!  For all of you I will now start to refer to him as Baby P though.

After my OB appointment I had a perinatal appointment to check on the baby.  Due to their other son they just wanted to check and make sure everything looked good.  I was completely okay with that since it meant an extensive ultrasound of seeing the little pea moving around.  We were lucky and were able to get a 3D shot of his face and I have to say he looks pretty stinking cute!  The results were that he is perfect and as far as the perinatal doctor could see everything looks wonderful!  Sigh of relief for the family of this little guy.  With the extra ultrasound we had we were able to get measurements of everything and I am a little nervous for the delivery.  He is measuring about 2lbs, 2 oz.  His head is measuring a little large at about 28 weeks and 4-5 days along when I am only 25 weeks and 6 days.  The rest of his body is measuring on target at least but with him being breech it makes me nervous that a vaginal birth might not happen if he doesn't get turned around and is head down.  From what I've read with breech deliveries they want the stomach and head about the same diameter around or at least the stomach a bit bigger than the head.  Here is to hoping he flips soon!

Weight Gain: 29 lbs.  I apparently know how to pack on the weight when I get pregnant, but thankfully it has mostly gone to my belly and maybe to my behind.

Cravings: Water that is somewhat warm (I know kind of weird), salad, turkey, avocado, sweets (doesn't help with all the holiday treats we had going around)

Symptoms: Starting to waddle, braxton hicks, pelvic pressure, constantly having to pee, exhaustion again, some ligament pain, him constantly moving around which I don't mind at all, some swelling in my feet, heart burn if I don't take the prilosec every single day

What I miss: Not feeling so immobile, I want so badly to just lay on my stomach, Shaving without trying to be an acrobat, not feeling like my insides are going to fall out or my belly to fall over

Their baby's the size of a head of lettuce!
He's still growing in the 13.6- to 14.8-inch and 1.5- to 2.5-pound range, and developing his senses, features and talents!

Their baby at 26 weeks
  • His eyes are forming, and his eyes will soon start to open.
  • And his eyelashes are now grown, too.
  • He's getting his immune system ready for life on the outside by soaking up your antibodies.
  • He's taking breaths, too. They're of amniotic fluid, not air, but it's still good practice.

Labor & Delivery Scare

BP while I am sitting down
BP while I am standing (this is still lower than my normal)

I had a little bit of a scare the other night and ended up going to the Labor & Delivery at the hospital to get some monitoring done.  While I was at work I was just feeling really weird and off, I had been the past few days.  On this particular day though I would stand up and get light headed or dizzy, at one point I was even seeing spots.  I honestly had that feeling as though I was going to fall over and pass out.  The sensation would only last a very short time and then I would be fine and it was like it never happened.  Almost every time I would stand though I would get kind of dizzy.

I probably wouldn't have been such a worry wart about this except that I had taken a fall the day prior.  With the fall I landed on my knees really hard and the baby started moving shortly after so I knew he was okay.  Once I started seeing the spots and feeling dizzy I didn't want to chance something actually being wrong with him or with me.  I called the doctor on call from my OB office and he said I could always wait to go into the office the following day to get blood drawn or could go to Labor & Delivery.  I opted to head over to the hospital that night just to have peace of mind.  I didn't want to wait for results or worry about what possibly could be going on.

My best friend picked up my daughter and met me at the hospital and on the way over I had a billion things running through my mind of what could possibly be going on.  With my first pregnancy I had no issues or complications so this was all new to me and honestly not something I had really experienced before.

I got to the hospital and since I was 25 weeks along they started the pre-registration process for me since I have never been to this hospital before.  I answered some questions and then was sent to a monitoring room to see if I needed to be admitted or not.  I peed in a cup so they could check my urine and make sure that everything was good to go.  Once that was done they strapped on some monitors to check the babies heart rate and monitor him.  He of course was moving around like crazy as soon as the monitors were put on so it was difficult to get a good reading on him.  What little they did get the nurse said he sounded great!

When she took my blood pressure it was rather low compared to what my normal is, which is still on the lower end anyways.  My urine came back with a little trace of blood and so there could be a tiny possibility that I might have an infection but I didn't really have any signs for one.  I have had plenty to know what they are and just didn't feel like that was what this was.  My CBC came back great with no issues as well.  They said that I could possibly be getting dizzy from my blood pressure being low and then it dipping lower when I stand up.  I have noticed that it usually happens when I stand and probably is caused from that.  I will be seeing my OB next week so I can mention it to her and see what she says.

I am so grateful that there weren't any issues or complications and that it is possibly just my blood pressure being too low.  Baby looked great and overall I am doing great!  Need this little pea to hang out in there for a bit longer.
